Privacy and Terms of Service

This document applies to Smart Sub, a browser extension published by Smart Build Labs. By installing or using Smart Sub, you agree to this Privacy Policy and these Terms of Service.

Privacy Policy

Overview

Smart Sub is a subscription tracker. By default it is designed to keep your subscription data local to your device in browser storage. You may optionally sign in with Google to enable cloud backup and sync and certain email-related features.

Data stored locally

When you use Smart Sub in local-only mode (or for data that is not synced), information such as subscription entries, preferences, reminders, and export/import metadata may be stored in extension storage on your device (for example, chrome.storage.local). This data does not leave your device except as described below when you enable optional cloud features or export data yourself.

If you choose Continue with Google or otherwise enable cloud sync:

Authentication may use Google sign-in and OAuth scopes needed to identify your account (such as basic profile and email), consistent with the extension manifest and Google’s practices.
Subscription and settings data for sync may be stored in a cloud database (for example, Google Firebase / Firestore) scoped to your account, subject to security rules that restrict access to your own data.

Signing out or switching back to local-only mode may stop further cloud sync; we may update cloud records to reflect your mode so that optional services (such as email digests) stop where applicable.

Email reminders

If you enable email notifications or digests and cloud features are active, scheduled backend processes may read the data needed to send renewal-related messages (for example, via an email provider such as Resend). Those messages are intended to operate on your subscription data tied to your account, not for marketing unrelated products.

System notifications

If you enable system notifications, the extension may use the browser’s notification APIs to show renewal reminders on your device. Notification content is derived from data stored locally or synced per the settings above.

Service icons

The user interface may display brand icons for subscriptions. Icons may be loaded from local packaged assets and, when a brand icon is not available locally, from a CDN or similar source as described in the extension’s implementation.

Analytics and advertising

Smart Sub is not intended to sell your personal data for advertising. We do not use Smart Sub to track your general web browsing across unrelated sites for ad targeting.

Data retention and deletion

You may export, import, or delete data using in-extension controls where available. Deleting data locally removes it from your device; deleting or signing out of cloud features may require additional steps described in the product to remove or disconnect cloud copies.

Children

Smart Sub is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction).

Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this policy. Continued use after updates constitutes acceptance where permitted by law.

Terms of Service

License to use

Subject to these terms, Smart Build Labs grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use Smart Sub in accordance with its documentation and the Chrome Web Store listing.

Accounts and sync

If you use optional sign-in or sync, you are responsible for safeguarding your account credentials and for the accuracy of data you enter. You may terminate cloud use by signing out or using in-product controls; some effects may be delayed until servers process the change.

Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse Smart Sub, including by attempting to access another user’s synced data, interfere with the service’s security, or use the extension for unlawful purposes.

Disclaimers

Smart Sub is provided “as is”. We do not warrant that reminders, spend estimates, or renewal dates will always match your actual bills or provider behavior. You remain responsible for your financial obligations to third-party services.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Smart Build Labs and its contributors will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits or data, arising from your use of Smart Sub.

Termination

You may stop using Smart Sub at any time by removing the extension. We may stop offering or updating the extension.

Governing law

These terms are governed by applicable law as described in our general practices, except where mandatory consumer protections apply in your country.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms of Service. Continued use after updates constitutes acceptance where permitted by law.
